This sculpture was commissioned for the 1992 Summer Olympics, held in Barcelona, Spain
This is a much older statue, also in Barcelona. This is a sculpture of Christopher Columbus, who, interestingly enough, is supposed to be pointing towards America and the "New World". Instead, whoever placed the statue pointed it facing in the wrong direction, so he is pointing East.
These "Snowmen" as they are called, grace Schipol Airport in Amsterdam
These busts are in the museum at the Acropolis in Athens, Greece.
I am not positive but I believe they are original and have been preserved inside the museum while there is restoration going on. It was incredible to see them so close up. The detail is amazing and it gives you great admiration for the artists of their time.
The cemetary on the hill above the Glasgow Cathedral in Glasgow, Scotland.
The markers are so very detailed and artful, some of them almost seemed to come alive. It makes for a very somber, emotional experience seeing them on a rainy day, as many are in Scotland.
This sculpture is in the town of Lacock, England.
It was given to the town by William Henry Fox Talbot,
the man who invented the negative-positive process there.
As you can see the year was 1824, again, I'm amazed at the skill of the craftsman.
Cardiff, Wales
This dragon is the symbol of Wales, and is used everywhere with pride. One of the English pound coins even features the symbol on the back. This dragon is atop the spire on the government buildings in downtown Cardiff. Even from a great distance you can see the details of the intricate design.
