Site #3
cnn.com
1. I like cnn.com because I feel that it is the most current and constantly updated news as it's happening. If something is rumored to be happening in the world, this is the place to go and find out the real details, the hard news, the facts - not speculation.
2. The background color is as with many news sites, white. There are large images to go with the main stories.
3. The size of the type depends on how hot a topic it is. The bigger the news, the larger the type. It is very easy to read.
4. The header design is simple and red, somehow looking very formal. There are descriptive titles for each section in order to make finding the story you are looking for simple.
5. The overall color scheme is the red header and the stories being printed in blue (titles and links) and black on a white background.
6. The target audience would be serious news readers, or readers that need to find the story they want quickly. People who like to keep up on interesting news stories from all over the world on a wide range of topics.
7. I can see a grid structure to the site - again it keeps the news and stories all aligned in easy-to-skim columns interspersed with photos for some of the bigger stories. News is arranged in lots of different ways - geographically, topically, etc, to make it easy to find topics of interest to you.
8. There are no special effects or animations used.
9. After looking at the site as a designer, I still feel that it is a well-organized and informative site with an amazing number of interesting stories.
