Monaco Castle, Monaco

This is Chateau Grimaldi, or Monaco Castle in Monaco, which borders France.
Built in 1191, since the end of the 13th Century it has been the home of the Royal Family, the Grimaldis.  The City of Monaco is less than one half of one square mile! The population is 32,100 which is one of the most dense populations in the world with 16,477 per square kilometer :-)
It is known for the Monaco Gran Prix (Formula 1 race) which is one of the oldest car races in the world.

I find it interesting to compare the castles I have blogged about today, the materials used to build them and the varied designs used.  The craftsmanship and stone work are incredible on all of them.
