Cardiff Castle has nearly a very long history which spans nearly 2000 years. The Romans may have arrived as early as 54 A.D. The Castle is surrounded by a huge stone wall and the earliest buildings on the site were all forts. More modern parts of the Castle were built as the years went on. During World War II the Castle sustained very little damage but a few of the forts on the ground were destroyed. Today you can see the Castle or the walls from most places in the city. The Castle was given to the people of Cardiff in 1947 and it is now open daily for tours.
This history was obtained from the official website of Cardiff Castle.
