Project 2 - Layout - Effigy Mounds Comp #1 Re-Do
As mentioned, I plan to work on the transparency of the logo and the bears, then add a background and repost this design along with my other 2 re-dos...
Project 2 - Layouts - Effigy Mounds - Artist's Statement
Above is the first of my "RE-DOs" for the Layout project. This layout is for school aged children, my first target audience.
I really liked using the bears as the navigation selections, I thought it mimicked the layout of the mounds and would spark interest with the children. I'm having transparency issues in my PhotoShop version so at this time I have no background as I'm still working on fixing that issue and removing the backgrounds from the bear art. When I've solved this (tomorrow I am hopeful) I will post it again along with my other two designs.
Monaco Castle, Monaco
This is Chateau Grimaldi, or Monaco Castle in Monaco, which borders France.
Built in 1191, since the end of the 13th Century it has been the home of the Royal Family, the Grimaldis. The City of Monaco is less than one half of one square mile! The population is 32,100 which is one of the most dense populations in the world with 16,477 per square kilometer :-)
It is known for the Monaco Gran Prix (Formula 1 race) which is one of the oldest car races in the world.
I find it interesting to compare the castles I have blogged about today, the materials used to build them and the varied designs used. The craftsmanship and stone work are incredible on all of them.
Windsor Castle, England
Windsor Castle in Windsor, England. This is the official residence of the Queen of England, the largest occupied castle in the world and has been a home and fortress for over 900 years.
The Long Walk is the name of the path you see in the photo above. It is 2.64 miles long and leads from the Castle gate thru Windsor Great Park (which is now a public park) to the Copper Horse statue of King George II.
The information above was obtained from the official website of Windsor Castle as well as the Windsor-Berkshire website.
Inverary Castle, Argyll, Scotland
The original Inverary Castle, built in the 1400's was the Ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll, on the West coast of Scotland on the shores of Loch Fyne. Construction of a more modern Inverary Castle was begun in 1746. In 1877 the castled caught fire and was rebuilt yet again, at which time a 3rd floor was added along with the conical roofs on the corner towers.
This information was obtained from the official Inverary Castle website.
Cardiff Castle, Wales
Cardiff Castle has nearly a very long history which spans nearly 2000 years. The Romans may have arrived as early as 54 A.D. The Castle is surrounded by a huge stone wall and the earliest buildings on the site were all forts. More modern parts of the Castle were built as the years went on. During World War II the Castle sustained very little damage but a few of the forts on the ground were destroyed. Today you can see the Castle or the walls from most places in the city. The Castle was given to the people of Cardiff in 1947 and it is now open daily for tours.
This history was obtained from the official website of Cardiff Castle.
